President Heri Beziฤ and his associates from the CCE Rijeka County Chamber attended the 100th Anniversary ceremony of Punat shipyard on the island of Krk, Croatia.
The Punat shipyard is one of the oldest shipyards on the Adriatic. The history of the shipyard dates back to 1922 when the founder and first owner of the Shipyard Nikola Zoric, on an area of 1654 m2, with 11 workers started shipbuilding on the island of Krk. Most of the time, wooden motor yachts of the capacity up to 350 tons were built on only two slipways. They were barges, leuts, cargo ships, fishing boats and yachts – all made of wood, for which this shipyard became widely known.
In the eighties of the last century, the Punat shipyard became the largest shipyard for the construction of wooden ships in Croatia. The foundations of the future shipyard were laid. Punat shipyard was privatized in 1994 and since 2001 has been majority – owned by Marina Punat.
Today, with its capacities, the shipyard, in cooperation with business partners, provides a complete overhaul service of all types of working vessels and mega yachts. The 100th anniversary of the Punat shipyard also marked the century of prosperity of the island community, which has developed from a small coastal town into a modern nautical center of European importance.

President Beziฤ wished the management and employees of the Punat shipyard many more years of successful business. He congratulated them on the valuable anniversary of 100 years of the shipyard’s existence on behalf of Croatian Chamber of Economy – Rijeka County Chamber* but also on behalf of @INSULEUR, the Network of the Insular Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the European Union, which continually strives to enhance insular economy development.
