Greening the Islands Academy workshop: A New Opportunity for Island Energy Authorities

As a partner of INSULEUR, the Greening the Islands Foundation is inviting eligible island stakeholders to participate in the third workshop of the Greening the Islands Academy 2026 programme, entitled:

โ€œFrom Ground to Grid: Harnessing Geothermal and Bioenergy Potential on Islandsโ€

The online workshop will take place on 30 June 2026 and will focus on the role of geothermal energy, biomass, biogas and waste-to-energy solutions in supporting stable, reliable and renewable energy systems for island territories.

Participants will explore how islands can complement intermittent renewable sources such as solar and wind with firm, 24/7 renewable energy solutions, while benefiting from enhanced energy security, waste reduction and economic diversification. The programme will include technical presentations, case studies and an interactive Q&A session featuring experts from leading international organisations and companies in the geothermal and bioenergy sectors.

Who can participate?

Participation is exclusively reserved for technical officers and decision-makers responsible for energy planning and energy system management within:

  • Island governments
  • Regional administrations
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Utility companies

Please note that participation is subject to eligibility confirmation by the organisers.

Registration deadline

Interested participants are invited to submit their application as soon as possible.

Application deadline: 29 June 2026 at 17:00 CEST

As places are reserved exclusively for eligible public-sector and utility representatives from island territories, early registration is strongly encouraged.

INSULEUR encourages its members and partners meeting the eligibility criteria to take advantage of this opportunity to deepen their knowledge of innovative renewable energy solutions for islands and to engage with international experts working at the forefront of the energy transition.
