COMPOSE PLUS
Project Partner

Capitalising on sustainable development planning for clean energy transition in rural and island areas of the MED.

COMPOSE PLUS project will capitalise on the successful development of a sustainable development planning tool, the COMPOSE tool, demonstrating its practical use value in development planning, supporting policymakers and development planners to mature projects towards the clean energy transition, focusing especially on rural and island areas of the MED.

It will promote introduction of EE measures and implementing RES as means of energy supply or even new business models, with a combination of social and technical innovation.

COMPOSE PLUS project is a consortium of 12 highly motivated partners from 7 MED countries, to transfer, adopt and mainstream COMPOSE tool and therefore increase their planning capacity and by spill over effect also capacity of several more stakeholders, to be better prepared for absorption of EU and cohesion funds, especially in the energy sector.

BLUE CROWDFUNDING
Project Partner

Improving skills of stakeholders in blue economy sector through participatory funding and innovation.

The BLUE CROWDFUNDING project aims to improve the skills of stakeholders in the blue growth – economy sector (fisheries, aquaculture, maritime tourism etc) in the Mediterranean region by boosting innovation through participatory funding.

The project aims to develop the skills of SMEs active in the blue economy sector, by focusing its actions on the use of participatory funding tools, and create a transnational cluster with participatory funding services, implement training programs targeted at entrepreneurship-supporting organizations and support the adoption of new policies that recognize the importance of participatory funding in Regions.

The long-term goal is to support innovation mainly through participatory funding resources by fostering the development of innovative products and services in the blue economy sector.

INNOVAGRO
Project Partner

Developing links between farmers, agro-food enterprises, Research Institutes and Public Authorities.

The project focuses on the development of links and synergies between farmers, agro-food enterprises, Research Institutes and Public Authorities, for the promotion of agro-food products’ extroversion, the development of agro-food companies’ internalization, and the promotion of environmentally-friendly farming practices.

Project’s main outputs are: a Transnational Cooperation Network in agro-food & tourism sector and a Virtual Transnational Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center (VIBIEC), offering support through e-incubators, e-business network platform, and other self-assessment tools.

Main beneficiaries: SMEs in the agrofood & tourism sector, farmers, business support organizations, R&D Institutes, and Regional & Local Authorities.

BLUE ISLANDS
Project Partner

Addressing challenges faced by Mediterranean Islands through circular economies and sustainable tourism.

BLUEISLANDS Project attempts to address prevailing challenges faced by Mediterranean Islands, namely the structural constriction of sea-locked territories, the fragmentary knowledge of seasonal variation of waste generation, and the lack of strategic plan to promote sustainable tourism.

The Project brings together 14 partners from 8 countries aiming at converting the aforementioned challenges into a means fueling the establishment of circular economies through sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean.

INNO BLUE GROWTH

Strengthening innovation capacities of SMEs in the nautical sector.

The main aim of Innonautics is to strengthen the innovation capacities of SMEs in the nautical sector thanks to the spreading of innovative solutions and creating transnational cooperation initiatives, allowing a key sector for the insular Mediterranean economy to be modernised.

It involves the creation of a Technology Platform to increase knowledge and competitiveness and strengthen the implementation of pilot programmes at nautical sector enterprises.

TALIA
Associated Partner

Building the Social & Creative community of the InterregMED Programme.

TALIA (Territorial Appropriation of Leading-edge Innovation Actions) builds and develops the Social & Creative community of the InterregMED Programme by orchestrating the progress and results of individual projects within the Priority Axis specifically related to Cultural and Creative Industries and Social Innovation.

TALIA gathers all modular projects within communities of practice based on their commonalities to support joint transnational communication and capitalisation actions.

TALIA is responsible for the construction and development of the MED Social & Creative community, including projects addressing Cultural and Creative Industries and Social Innovation.

COMPOSE

Increasing the share of renewable energy sources in Mediterranean rural areas and islands.

COMPOSE (Rural Communities Engaged with Positive Energy) was a three-year Interreg MED project that worked on increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the local energy strategies and mix in the Mediterranean rural areas and islands.

It provided a new holistic approach for RES planning models through the development of supply chains and the enhancement of local businesses, taking into account not only technical, but also socio-economic and environmental aspects.

The COMPOSE model has been tested by implementing 15 demonstration actions in 11 Mediterranean regions: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain.

INNONAUTICS

Communication and capitalization of Blue Growth projects to increase impacts on Mediterranean clusters.

InnoBlueGrowth’s main objective was to ensure the communication and capitalization activities of the ‘modular’ projects dealing with Blue Growth issues in order to increase their impacts towards common identified targets.

InnoBlueGrowth has implemented concrete actions—a communication strategy, community building initiatives and capitalization events—to build a real community of modular projects dealing with Blue Growth.

Blue Growth Interreg MED horizontal project (2019-2022) is now the continuation of InnoBlueGrowth Interreg MED horizontal project (2016-2019).

ISLE-PACT
Project Partner

Political commitment from European insular authorities to reduce CO2 emissions by over 20% by 2020.

The main aim of the project is to obtain political commitment from a large number of European insular authorities to reduce CO2 emissions by over 20% by 2020, in signing an obligatory statement (Isle Pact) and putting into place a well-coordinated series of plans, activities and preparatory projects to attain this objective.

EUROISLANDS Study

ESPON study on ‘The Development of Islands – European Islands and Cohesion Policy’.

Coordinated by the Aegean University under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of the Economy and carried out within the framework of the EPSON 2013 programme, this study aims to develop political recommendations allowing the objectives of economic, social and territorial cohesion to be performed within a sustainable development prism.

This study aims to respond to three fundamental questions: What is the situation of European islands within the context of sustainable development? What are the causes of this situation? What are the most appropriate policies to improve this island attractiveness and ensure advances respond to the demands of sustainable development?

The final report was delivered by end 2010.
